HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH AND FRENCH
(available upon request only)
Course Overview
This 4 session course is a journey through the cultural and communication styles prevalent throughout different Spanish speaking countries such as Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico, and South America. The course is designed to build a strong foundation for bilingualism to better prepare children for future success. Students will learn how to express personal feelings and opinions with an emphasis on writing and pronunciation. This course will introduce students to sentence building to succeed in Conversational Spanish, if the student decides to continue this journey. Students are required to study and complete homework daily to follow the pace of this course (lessons may be audiotaped). By the end of the academic year, your child should be able to order food in a restaurant, maintain a basic Spanish conversation with peers, follow basic directions, have a general understanding of Spanish speaking cultures, and much more. Music, food, and/or dances will be introduced. This course may be taken individually or as a group.
Holt Textbook for sessions 1 and 2: “Ven Conmigo” book 1 (2003 edition or later-please check with teacher). Target grade: 7-12.
Note: Students will be interviewed on day 1 to determine the best Spanish level for each child.
