General Overview: Elementary STREAMS is an exploratory/introductory class designed to introduce science, mathematics, ELA, Spanish, social studies/geography topics that will be eventually covered throughout middle school and high school. All STREAMS concepts are discussed while using a microscope, human size skeleton, building and testing models, doing experiments, building and coding robots, and dissecting specimens. Students will be introduced to the scientific method, units of measurements, physical and chemical properties, diseases, the importance of good health habits, and much more!! (Science, math, ELA, Spanish, and social studies topics covered will follow Harcourt curricula).
All topics vary from term-to-term to keep lessons fresh and students engaged.
Course Overview: This fun 2-3 terms/sessions course is a hands-on journey through science, math, Spanish, ELA, and social studies. Activities change from year to year to accommodate multiple years. Through fun activities, students will get an introduction to STREAM vocabulary words/topics such as: Basic Measurements (The Metric System), Mass, Volume, Density, Forces, Motion, Energy, Matter, Particles, Coding, Matter, Atoms, Elements, Compounds, Chemical Reactions, Acids, Bases, Electricity, Magnetism, The Microscope, Cell, Viruses, Nutrition, Body Systems, Health, Wellness, Diseases, the Environment, Life Cycles, and Robotics.
Target grade: Pk-5th grade
Group I ages 3-7
Group II ages 7-12
